Change to travellers on day of departure

Hi all
We are due to fly out for a family holiday (2 adults 2 children) in a weeks time. Due to certain medical conditions, one of my children may not be travelling, but we will not know until the day we leave. We are not interested in any financial refund from the travel agency, however can we just turn up to the airport and advise them that one person cannot make it?
Thank you

The airlines wont care if three people check in or four, they have already had the money, so just turn up and check three people in. No advance notice required.
Although saying this, if you have already done online check in for all four, it is worth mentioning at bag drop.0 -
Airline might care and if the booking is not updated at the airport correctly and the non travelling child goes down as a no show then it may affect the return flight booking, then again it may not.
Maybe ask the travel agent their opinion and if the non travelling child can be split from the main booking and flights cancelled for that child, check to see if any admin cost is involved first.
Or just leave it and wait for more advice.0 -
Just turn up without the child and tell them when you check i that they were too ill to travel. If you tell the travel agent there's a good chance they'll try to charge fees for changing the holiday.
Don't mention it at the hotel either, they may try to charge you under-occupancy fees.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
