We require a copy of MS Office for home laptop to help with partners study - unfortunately her course is not covered by MS free copy for students (no email for school).
Don't wish to be paying annual subscription for MS Office so looking at purchasing copy of MS Office 2016 for Windows 7 laptop.
Hard copy prices seem to be around £120 but some sites are offering download versions for much lower.
Are these legit or is it case that they could be con/fake etc
Can see this one on Groupon for £27

There are no physical copies of Office now, it is all digital download, in fact it tells you that on the link you've posted to Groupon.
You could probably make your own disk if you really wanted to though.0 -
Do you really need MS office or would Libre Office (free) do?0

I downloaded office 2019 last week and activated with a code from eBay which costs £2.80. only downside it's a one time code so if pc blows up you will have to buy another one"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

No you don't.
You should have have been given the option to either create or sign into an existing Microsoft account. If you need to reload later you just sign back into that account on the Office website and download it again.0 -
I have used softwaregeeks a number of times and not had a problem with their downloads or product keys.0
