DVD Players - making them multi-regional

Looking through Tesco's stock of cheap DVD players for connection to a TV, I find that a Philips says specifically that it will play only Region 2 DVDs, whereas all of their own-brand Teknika ones say nothing about regions on the box.
The online writeups for all the Argos DVD players I looked up indicate that they are region 2 only.
So I wonder just what proportion of DVD players can be modified trivially to play DVDs from any region? I want to get a fairly cheap one, but want it to be multi-region modifiable.
Can someone please suggest an easy way to go about ensuring that any DVD player I might wish to purchase can be so modified? The website https://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk seems not to have the more recent models...
Thanks!

Most people these days at least those connected to the internet take the time out to research these things, as a consequence they tend to find a model number they're interested in and google it with the word 'multiregion'. That or purchase from somewhere like: http://svp.co.uk/searchresults.php?sSrch=dvd+player&Submit.x=0&Submit.y=0 where 'brand names' are less popular. Or of course there's the avforums who carry different reviews of various players meeting both standard definition and high definition requirements, not forgetting any upscaling requirements too.

HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Hey John,
I haven't encountered a dvd player that I couldn't hack with a code. There are plenty of sites that will help you (can't recall specifics at the mo)
I can tell you for certain that even the Tesco super budget budget player is unlockable. Bought one for about £15 and found a unlock code online in minutes."As a cure for worrying, work is better than whiskey"0 -
Thanks, EvilJim6 - you answered the question I asked!0
