I dont understand? Does your key fob not have a pop out key for unlocking the car?
I’ve never heard of this changing the battery every two years ... sounds like a con to me.

My car has a keyhole that you have to dismantle the door handle to access. If the fob battery is dead, it is only the work of a few seconds with a screwdriver to get it open.

Should the car battery go flat it doesn't work as nothing can release the deadlocks.

A new battery is less than £2. My time and trouble to get into the car with the key in the inevitably pouring rain and darkness is worth that to me. ;)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

My current XF has keyless entry. When the fob battery runs out it puts up a message on the dashboard to say 'key fob battery low' you can still use the key but need to keep it near a sensor. Last chance is to insert the key in a slot in the dashboard and it will still work.

Ultimately if it fails while car is locked and deadlocked there is a fold out physical key which can be inserted in to the boot to unlock it and then someone has to wriggle in (whilst alarm is going off!) by putting back seats down and inserting key fob in to dashboard slot where it will be recognised and car started (and alarm silenced).

But you have enough warnings to do something about it before it becomes last gasp.

Strangely enough both key fobs batteries fail at the same time so you can't prolong life by using one then the other.
