O/S Daily Friday 27 September 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, damp underfoot but not raining at the moment although rain is forecast again today.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was disjointed as DH was on a later finish, DS1 had a pie, potatoes, peas and gravy. DH had a takeaway and I had fish cakes and HM caponata. Tonight will be something easy to just put in the oven.
Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I gave the house a quick go-over it looks more respectable but certainly wasn't a deep clean. I did manage to get 2 loads of washing line dried also, once the rain had cleared by mid morning it wasn't a too bad day here, sunny and breezy - although it did then cloud over and have a heavy downpour around 3pm today should be similar, so will try to dodge the showers. I also did the monthly household admin.
On to today - I'll be heading out to the SM first thing, doing the food shopping, then will need to do some ironing as I need uniform for tomorrow as I'm working. Only working 2 days next week, so a short week, then a busy weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Fine and dry at the minute but more showers forecast later. At least it is still keeping mild which is a bonus.
The girlies are still asleep but another 15 mins and I will have to rouse them, feed, water and get organised for school.
Then I have the pleasure (not) of the Friday Tidy. I really must make a start on cleaning the windows at some point too.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need, the MIA and thinking of TAFF. Hope the holidaymakers are enjoying their breaks away. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone.
This morning I'm having a very long overdue haircut. I'm trying a new salon as my usual one is still closed. Then I'll head into town, I need to buy a pair of black shoes.
DM's visitor yesterday was very nice. I set up a little buffet of crackers with various cheeses and hummus as she doesn't eat sweet foods. After she left DM carried on munching on it, completely forgetting about the sea bass fillets she had prepared earlier on. They'll be fine for today.
My thoughts are with all those struggling or overwhelmed with 'stuff'. Happy Friday to everyone.0 -
Morning All
No work today or Monday, we have September weekend here. Typically it's grey and showery, not sure how much I will get done in the garden this weekend.
I have a funeral to attend this morning, the mother of an old colleague. Wouldn't normally go but I'm off and the mother was very elderly with very few friends left, there are a few of us going together to support our friend.
DD and baby doing really well, little Sophie is putting on weight really well and she's now a normal colour, her lungs certainly work!
Hugs to those struggling, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
The weather looks a bit better than it has been lately, the sun is out and it is dry so hopefully it will stay that way because I am going out with some friends to a market town in the next county for the day. We wanted to go somewhere different for a change so decided to go there as they have quite a thriving market. These are a group of people I met through volunteering and have started to become friendly with so there has been an added benefit to volunteering.
I had wanted to start some voluntary work for some time but wasn't well enough, but have go there in the end and this opportunity wasn't about when I first wanted to look for something, so it all worked out for the best in the end.
I don't think I will want anything to eat when I get back, but if I do there is some salad bits and I will do an omelette to go with it.
I need to have a quick tidy before I go because I don't want to come back to a mess.
AOD I hope all went well at the dentist yesterday.
Hope the decorating is going well snoozer.
Csarina and SR have a good holiday.
Thinking of you and your family Taff.
Dumpling hopefully things will stay calmer between Lily and Steve and settle down.
Camelot I'm so pleased to read that Sophie is doing so well, I was wondering how she was.
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Good morning chums,
It's Friday!!!
Thank goodness. Just back form the doctors who after reviewing my blood tests, heart monitor, ear, balance, sleep, diet, stress etc has diagnosed me with benign positional vertigo. He seems to have come to this conclusion with common sense and was certain on his decision after his final test: he asked me to march on the spot, then, once I was in a rhythm, close my eyes and count to 50. He asked me to stop and when I opened my eyes, I was facing 90 degrees to the right!! I was amazed.
So, not too much to worry about it seems. I also had the physio last night, another £50 for 30 minutes, but again, I understand his logic and prognosis. Afterwards, I headed home and had an hour long catch up with my gran, then saw the GBBO. Bed for 9.30
Nothing much planned this weekend. I predict a late night in the office tonight as I've tons to do but we'll see how I get through it all. Steak and chips tonight for dinner!!!
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Hello sorry not posted for ages but had major surgery and am just recovering. Nice to catch up hope you all ok xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Credit where's its due PURPLEIVY! I think it was AOD who christened it the Friday Tidy and I pinched it from her!

Quite a strong breeze, not too bad when you get outside if you have a jumper on................ sun keeps trying to break through.
Had to take DB for his flu injection, he should have gone yesterday but 'forgot' which he seems to be doing quite a lot lately. All done now.
Packing is going ok, back bedroom has clothes on hangers on the wardrobe door, ready to go in last thing.
Plan to wash whats in the linen basket on Sunday, its forecast to be a wet day, so they will have to go in the dryer, cannot do with wet washing hanging around. Although I will change the bed on Monday before we go, wash the bed linen and leave it on the airer in the sewing room.
Usual fish and chips tonight, I have a gammon joint to slice, cooked it yesterday, will freeze it ready for when we come home.0
