Van hire Damage

Hi all,

not to sure where i stand with this situation, but i hired a van through a company that amazon use for van hire for their employees.

i have a bill of £1,800 for charges, which i strongly feel i shouldnt be liable for as i didnt cause the damage, plus i feel the hire van company are being very unreasonable, and trying to mug me off so the damaged is paid for.

please help.

many thanks

Ben

What is the damage? Did the damage happen while the van was in your custody? Do you have a damage waiver or other insurance type product you can claim off of?

And neither is anyone else. How can we possibly give any advice based on what you've provided? You could be entirely liable, entirely innocent or anywhere in between.

You need to do a proper timeline and outline of what happened, which insurances are in place and what the agreements/contracts for hire that you sign say. As is stands there is no possible assistance that anyone can give.

  • As everyone has a mobile these days may I suggest that when you hire a car take lots of photo's of the car/van when you first take it and when you hand over. Do it whilst the staff are there and makesure they sign accepting the vehicle as you hand it over.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • If the damage happened while in your care, it’s your problem.

Then again the post is so vague no one really has a clue what’s happened.

Neither is anyone else based on your post, try giving some information as to what damage they are claiming and why.
