Credit file defaults

Hi,
I have 2 defaults on my account totalling £5,000. They were in 2015 and 2016. I took a personal loan out to clear the 2 debts - should I have asked that they remove the defaults as part of the full settlement?
What are the chances of asking them to do this retrospectively. This would make my credit report better and give me a better chance of applying for a joint mortgage. I know defaults stay with you for 6 years.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Regards,
J

You shouldn't and zero.
It's like asking for your criminal record to be wiped after you finished your sentence. It's not happening.0 -
No you shouldn’t have asked them and no the won’t remove them.
It’s an accurate representation of your credit history/behaviour.0 -
Yes you should ask them and yes they may remove them. Ive been in a similar situation to yours and have had 3 defaults removed. 2 remained because the companies would not budge but im still fighting those battles0
