Buying a 3 year old Car from Carshop - advice regarding warranty + paint protection.
Hi Guys
I've found a car that i like at a price that i think is good (ive been to view it today) - ive compared lots on the internet and from shopping around quite a few forecourts - im now at the stage where i am ready to purchase, but first i would like some advice from members.
The vehicle is a Jeep Renegade (i know these aren't everyones taste but i like it), The vehicle is 3 years old and has 30k miles on clock (this is average for a 3 year old car).
The vehicle is for sale with the Car Shop but ontop of the cost agreed for the car - Carshop have asked would i like to pay additional for Extended Warranty on the Car, which would be £649 for 2 years and also there is an option to pay for Paint and interior upholstery protector (something called GardX) with is a further £299 - so this has added £948 onto the vehicle price (if i want it).
The Paint protection and extra warrenty is optional, not compulsory - so i just wanted member views / based on experience - have you bought these add ons/ are they worth spending the extra money??

Do you think spending £300 on some polish and seat spray is worth it?
Do you think that you'll spend more than £650 on non-wear-and-tear failures that would be covered by the warranty in the next two years?
If the answer's yes, then go for them. If not, then don't...0 -
Don't worry with the warranty and paint protection. If you are buying warranty at all, you can buy the manufacturer warranty directly from their website. Make sure the car is covered i.e. some will have a condition of full manufacturer service history. After market warranty are usually not worth it because there is usually a wiggle room of wear and tear to get out of paying and in some cases excess amount to pay.
Stick the money for the warranty in a bank account and use it for any repair if anything happens in the next two years.
For the paint protection, it is most likely it has already been sold to the previous owner(s) with unlimited mileage warranty but they will continue to sell the protection to the buyer after you. It will not protect the car from supermarket dings and motorway chips which are what you should most worry about the most.0
