Hi to everyone who made their comments and suggestions, which I took on board.
Thanks mainly for making me feel supported and not hopeless in this.
So in the end I wormed my way out of this with some damage limitation, mainly because I just got bored with dealing with OPS answer bots. There's so much more to life than just grabbing money and being rude to people. There's a few weekends I'll never get back.
My advice to people would be don't give up. It's never too late to stop the machine. Find an angle and persevere. Nosferatu is right, it's a negotiation.
In my case I went back to the landowner and made an appeal as strongly as I could. At first they didn't answer, but I persevered and they did eventually intervene on my behalf. I then battered OPS email system with threats of what I was going to tell the judge. Despite their dismissive replies I think something got through.
And they cut me a deal. I think they got worried that I was actually 'on the case' and with the landowner on my side as well. I ended up paying off 3xPCNs for *less* than the original charge, and court cases withdrawn.0 -
Oh dear, I was going to reply to your email you sent! You paid them already?
No-one pays OPS a penny.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I know coupon mad its a bit of a cop out, but I really just wanted OPS out of my life, and 156.00 against 438.00 for 2xPCN's plus the 3rd one dragging on for another eternity enough already! My initial defence was so poor the judge might well have said 'no defence'.
Maybe next time!!0 -
The only cases we know where OPS actually managed to win in this area are where the D doesn't turn up.
ParkingMad has watched defended cases won time and again for months at Brighton court, for starters, and the Judges (some more than others) have sussed OPS.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well if anything it shows they're just desperate for cash, so you can use that for leverage.0

We use everything for leverage but the Judges are starting to look harder at them!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

At least it is a pressure lifted but of course there will be no next time! Just apply defensive parking strategy (or as Coupon-mad often writes, "cover your number plate with a sock."SweetAsThePunch wrote: »I know coupon mad its a bit of a cop out, but I really just wanted OPS out of my life, and 156.00 against 438.00 for 2xPCN's plus the 3rd one dragging on for another eternity enough already!
