Options
Hi All

We are looking at employing our first employee (my sister). What are the things we need to do? Our acccountant will sort out payroll and auto enrol with NEST, thanks.

  • How exciting! It's always great employing your first employee.
The HMRC website (https://www.gov.uk/employing-staff) has some great pointers.

Do not be tempted to think that because it's family you don't need the above.

Think very carefully about employing family for your first member of staff. You need to have absolute clear boundaries and she needs to respect these. If she doesn't nip it in the bud quickly before it wrecks relationships
