New Boiler Hum

We had a new Worchester Combi put in our loft yesterday, before agreeing to put it in the loft we asked the plumber if there would be any noise issues in the bedrooms below. He said there wouldn't be.
After installation we can hear a lo whir when the heating clicks on, which slowly builds, but the real issue is when a hot tap goes on, there's an audible hum.
Is this normal? What can be done about it?

Of course it's normal. Any boiler will make some noise when it's in use, you didn't seriously expect to be totally silent did you.We had a new Worchester Combi put in our loft yesterday, before agreeing to put it in the loft we asked the plumber if there would be any noise issues in the bedrooms below. Yes, we expected to hear no noise in the bedrooms below, a point we stressed to our plumber before agreeing to put it in the loft.0

What sort of insulation do you have between bedrooms and loft ?0

It's a fairly new house, around ten years old, we have some yellow fluffy stuff in the loft (sorry not sure what it is).0

Any combi boiler (and most conventional boilers) will have:
- A fan to suck in clean air and blow out carbon dioxide through the flue.
- A pump to circulate water through the heat exchanger or central heating.
To me a noise issue would be the boiler clanking, banging, or making other abnormal noises. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
No, I don’t believe you should be hearing a noise!
Mine is around 6ft away from where I am in a cupboard on the landing. A stud wall cupboard too....I can’t hear it in operation...only when the condensate pump operates is there any noise.
The noise could be an in clipped or loose pipe.0 -

Thanks - Is it a combi boiler?0 -
So the low hum is not normal? Interesting. What could it be?
I don’t think it is normal no...mine doesn’t do it...nor do the ones I’ve fitted this year.
I have an Ideal Logic and you could stand in front of it and be hard pressed to tell it’s running without looking at the display.
With regard to what it can be it’s obviously hard to say from here. Faulty component, some first/solder blocking water jets...a gas pressure issue which would get worse when ran on hot water as it uses gas at max rate. A water turbine...lots of things. Get him back, your warranty will be 5 years plus?
What Worcester is the boiler? The I model or Greenstar?0
