I've got the AMEX Gold charge card, and most recently their Nectar card. Both really fantastic cards!
It's getting more widely accepted in more places as time goes on, I'm noticing even a lot of small business in my area accept it, which also comes in handy for their Shop Small event.
I then use a Barclaycard reward card for anywhere that I can't use AMEX. But to be fair it's rare I need to use it so it's got a 0% holiday balance on there at the moment. There'd be nothing stopping you keeping the Debenhams card and using both0 -
Traditional cornershops and a few big retailers like B&Q tend to be the only places you cannot use AmEx these days.
Certainly in London many small shops, foodcarts etc have shunned the traditional card machines and using the likes of iZettle which does accept AmEx. Even before Covid you were more likely to struggle paying with cash than you were with AmEx as several places, including some chains, had gone cash free.0
