Broker or no broker? Halifax mortgage with past default

Hi KieraG, Sal_111 is correct, it does not need to be a local broker. I have both local clients who come to my office to see me face-to-face, as well as clients who I work with over the telephone and email. It's all about preference and personal choice, but it may benefit you not to restrict yourself to just local brokers. Wider choice is arguably a good thing.I AM A MORTGAGE ADVISER

Defo find a good whole market broker.
A good one takes a lot of stress away.
As is usual I used an in house one for my FTB one, however he turned out to be good and I used him for the remortgage too.
However when I looked him up when I was moving house he had moved to a firm with very high fees. I looked for another and found one that he actually used to work with (not everyone sells out!), and have used him since. Never been charged a fee. Although he is clear there is one if there is nothing to him from the mortgage company, but it is low and reasonable.
My mate that was FTB and used the old guy still does. Use one but do not keep with them if there are reasons not to.
And again, a decent broker takes away a lot of the stress.0
