As you have said, you panicked, not that surprising in the circumstances, but that isn't Lastminute.com's problem. They have offered you vouchers, which is probably more than they are bound to do. If a partial refund has been offered by BA, and you want the flexibility, I would be inclined to take the cash offer even if it's less than the vouchers from Lastminute.
  • Take the vouchers and be grateful
  • I can see why you would book alternative flights and can say the CAA website is a load of nonsense, they say don’t go to the airport to be repatriated until your flight shows on our (CAA) website. Well flight shows, turn up at airport and the plane is fully booked.

They are conning people as there letting holiday makers board planes who’s holiday was not due to end until next week so as to save paying hotels out on insurance claims, that or the hotel are chucking them out on the street but holiday makers who’s holidays have finished are left at the back of a long queue not knowing when they might fly.

Either way there telling folk to turn up at the airport with no flights and expect you to just sit there in hope there’s a space on a schedule flight leaving sometime in the future. Never mind, only 5 hours waiting so far and who knows might be home for Christmas.

Well the ATOL/CAA appear to be doing a sterling job getting people home following the TC demise, yes there are some delays at the airports BUT people are coming home after their holiday.
As expected there is always somebody appearing on the media complaining that they have had problems at the airport etc. but on a whole i think they have done a great job of carrying out the biggest repatrianation in modern times.
  • I have travel insurance with Sainsburys which includes Scheduled Airline Failure Cover.

Which scheduled airline has failed ?
  • Do you really believe what the media tell you or worst what some two face lying minster of the UK government tell you, sterling job, yes there still stuck in Corfu, day 3, might get flight tomorrow but then told that the day before yesterday, yesterday and now today.

Give CAA/ATOL credit my relatives have been put up in a 4 star hotel but they can’t go anywhere and while some say there getting an extra free holiday its no joke when you’ve run out of clean cloths and not budgeted for extended so say holiday or should that be what has become a prison sentence and anyone know if ATOL are going to pay lost wages?

This has been organised with limitation on saving expense above treating people with some respect but then Thomas Cook staff have been disrespect more and at least my relatives still have jobs unless they get the sack Monday for not turning up….that’s if there home by Monday..

Just to rub the salt in and what the CAA or minister won’t tell you that all Thomas Cook flights from and too airports outside the UK continue as normal.

Equating being put up in a 4* hotel paid for by someone else as equivalent to being in a prison is a bit rich!

How long is their return flight being delayed from their original departure date?

I guess if they don’t like the 4* hotel they have been given to stay in for free, or the free repatriation flight that is being offered, they could always pay their own way and book their own travel back to the U.K.

I find the story somewhat doubtful anyway. I wonder if they really even qualified for the ATOL covered flights.

Well in this case yes,you only have to look on social media to see the number of people returning home ON TIME after having their full holiday, yes there will be hiccups along the way but as has been said the bulk of customers have been and will be brought home at no extra cost.
