Easiest way is to buy a Wireless ADSL Modem router such as the Netgear DG834G, and then follow the guides on this board for setting up and securing your Wifi.0

cheers for that
if i get a wireless router do i have to upgrade or anything with bt.2013 wins..... Disney on ice VIP tickets...amazon Kindle0 -
Some BT packages supply a homehub (which is a wireless router), so if you are paying the ludicrous £23+ sort of prices that they charge, you could get one out of them for free. But you might be better off moving ISP, because they are a very expensive provider.
The wireless router is totally independent from the BB service, it is upto you what you put on the end of your phone line, BT won't even know.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

No - the only difference is how the broadband connection, which remains exactly the same, is distributed in your house.0 -
thanks for all your replys
i have thought about changing my isp,as son was thinking of getting an orange contract phone and could have free broadband, but i've had no probs at all with bt,and have heard loads of stories about how crap a lot of the others are,and how poeple have had nothing but trouble when they've changed, better the devil you know, me thinks, sometimes.
i have given bt a ring and there is an offer on at the moment you get the free wireless hub at £13.99 for the 1st 6 mths then 22.99 after, free uk evening and weekend calls,bt vision, and a digital tv recorder.
is that a lot ? and has anyone got this, whats it like?
at the moment i'm paying £14.99 a month just for normal broadband2013 wins..... Disney on ice VIP tickets...amazon Kindle0 -
Stick with who you've got if you're happy with them. A lot of these companies who bundle in broadband as an incentive to sign up to their TV/Phone/Mobile Phone provide less than satisfactory internet access and you've all hell on trying to leave.0

I have been with BT for about 6 years now at two addresses and everything has run (so far, touch wood!) flawlessly. Consistent download speeds (only 2mb but I get 2mb) and was only offline for about a day. ever. I would rather pay the little bit extra tbh!
OP don't forget you will probably need a nic (ethernet port) for your PC it may already have one built in or you can buy a separate card that simply plugs in.
Real easy to set up even if you are a novice!0 -

Try this for setting up wireless:

Although it's a bit exhaustive and overwhelming on first glance.0
