Registered and Financed but later delivery

Hi,

I have ordered a new car from a local dealer and its been delayed in arriving until the 5th of October. The dealer wants to register the car to me and for me to sign the finance documents now and then get the car on the 5th. I asked what the implications were for me and was told that the car would just be 5 days older, nothing more.

I am wondering if this is risky or ok, I am concerned that I will be taking delivery of the car on paper without having the car and what happens if something goes wrong?

Will I end up with no car and a loan to pay off?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

if the car is not of satisfactory quality when delivered you will find it harder to resolve as the dealer will hold all the aces. They will be asking you to do this so as to meet their end of month/quarter targets.
That is their problem not yours.

Don't do it, as most dealers do they are taking the pi$$.

Sounds like a bonus for the salesman if sale takes place in September. Ask them how much they will knock off the price if you agree.
