Does anyone have any experience of moving house with a solicitor change with 2 weeks to go? We were informed of the change Last week but were advised that as the new solicitors were in receipt of all paperwork this wouldn't be an issue. However we've been informed today that it could extend everything significantly, possibly by 6-8 weeks! My question is surely if everything has been transferred from previous solicitors then what's the hold up? Is there anything we can do or do we have to just roll with it?thanks

Sorry forgot to say it's the buyers solicitors that have changed0

There's nothing you can do about it other than see whether your solicitor can hurry them along in any way. Various things could hold it up but we'd all just be guessing.0

it's likely to cause a delay.
But as there'snothing you can do about it except urge the buyers not to change solicitor, just go with the flow.....0 -
Thanks for the replies. Just seems odd that they have chosen to do this at this juncture with 2 weeks to spare0

The buyer probably just found out their original sol wasn't on the mortgage lender's panel. This has happened to me personally and also my buyers in the past. I managed to get my sol to get themselves on the panel really quickly which was the best way.
With my buyer it added weeks to the sale unfortunately.0 -
It is likely to delay matters. A change of solicitor often means that the solicitor will want to raise their own enquiries partly because they must do their own due diligence and partly because even though they will be handed the papers from the previous solicitor, the enquiries won't be part of the pack.0
