Howden Kitchens (again!)

Hello, I know there's been lots of talk about Howdens and they've been recommended to me. However, how do I get to know how much they are?
I can't get a price list. A builder hasn't been appointed to my job yet, but I need to budget. My project manager is saying that I won't get anything cheaper, warned me to stay away from IKEA and assures me Howden is the best.
Can I go into a showroom and take a look or will they barr me at the gate!?

Hi, I had a Howdens kitchen put in earlier this year, they are very good quality, especially if you go for one of the solid wood ones. The Howdens near me didnt mind me going in and picking up brochure/price list, looking at door samples, etc. They also have a website but I cant remember if that has prices on it. Hope this helps.0

We went into Howdens, had a look reound, chatted to guy who was extremely helpful and gave us several brochures BUT he wouldn't give us any prices! He said they would only be provided to our builder which he did - very competitive prices.0

If you go in to a branch of Howdens and ask for a kitchen pack, including price list for your builder/carpenter who hasn't got any time to call in for one, you hopefully should be given one. This is what I did.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I payed £360 to my builder for My Franke metal sink and two Ebony laminate cheap worktop runners to my builder,
as he said his account needed paying, this seemed a lot to me??0 -
Iam a kitchen fitter who has fit many howden kitchens,
howdens is basically mfi to the trade only, but rigid built,
as for their price list forget it , i have dealt with them for years and never been able to understand their discount system, if buisness is poor you get more discount ect,
howdens do a free planning service , they are not going to turn away buisness if you are not trade, so call at howdens they generaly have a small showroom, arrange for a designer to call plan your kitchen and give you a list of reccomended fitters, this will put you on the right track,
but the cheapest kitchen is IT from B&Q,quality could be better, but look out for 50% off doors, and grab a bargain, their planning and instalation is very expensive so find a reccomended fitter, and this will be cheaper than doing it yourself, believe me i have had many wifes phoning up husbands made a bobo, i hope this helps.0 -
Thanks to all of you who have answered. I rang my local Howden who wouldn't tell me anything - just "talk to your builder". I think I'll do as suggested and actually call in for a 'kitchen pack'.
