The Thai baht, New Zealand dollar and Brazilian real are currently the most overvalued currencies in the world, according to Deutsche Bank's currency valuation models.11 Feb 2019
Hopefully once the mess here is sorted and Thailand [STRIKE]reign[/STRIKE] rein in their currency things will improve.
I would recommend a Transferwise account and card mostly for its ease of use.
Why?

Not long back from a trip to Thailand, taking in a small island. I agree the cash machines are a complete rip off, take crisp £50 notes and change them at Superrich at the airport, or the next door booth who match their rates, easy enough to find if you google the airport you can get a virtual map and see where to go. I have a transferwise card, only of use at places that accept cards, not too many on the smaller islands, and a waste of time cash withdrawal wise as you still pay the ATM fees and can only get £200 worthSave 12k in 2020 #19 £12,429.06/£14,0000

I certainly hope so. While I can't see the rate going back to 75 BHT to the pound as it was about 15 years ago, it would be nice to get it back to around 50-55. Rates of 36-38 are just painful. I was talking to a friend who has just got back from a trip around Thailand and he said he had never seen so few tourists and ex-pats in places such as Chiang Mai with lots of bars and restaurants closing down.
I'm going to be passing through Bangkok next month but only for a couple of days for old times sake. The value for money is now elsewhere in SE Asia.0 -

Are you asking because you are interested or just because it is an alternative view to your own?
Personally it might not be the greatest card for cash but I have found it to be a good way to convert GBP to many currency's when travelling and the app is excellent. Great for paying for hotel stays and for bits and pieces at airports.
Almost instant confirmation of purchases when I have used in in Thailand, India, UAE and Italy.0 -

Was interested to find out why you were recommending it for a trip to Thailand.
The answer seems to be that it isn't especially good for Thailand, other than for perhaps purchasing Thai baht in advance, in the case of the Pound dropping even further.0
