Has anyone here used a relocation service from an estate agent please? Any advice?

I didnt even know such a thing existed until I was told this morning. No company does things out of the kindness of its heart so Im wondering what the catch is? A hefty fee?

Any advice much appreciates as its been over 17 years since we moved house and it all feels a bit scary at the moment. I dont want us to be fleeced.

Thank you.

I would go back to the EA and ask exactly what they are offering and for how much, get it in writing.

Then I would ring up 2 or 3 removal companies, tell them you are moving from a to b, and approx how much furniture / items need to be moved a get a provisional quote of them as well

Then I would sit and consider the information given / does it all cover my needs.

Then make a choice when YOU are ready.

    Good luck

One big problem with these kinds of services is the variability of the quality.
    • At one end of the spectrum, it might be a highly experienced, competent team.
    • At the other end of the spectrum, it might be a new idea by a few naive young EAs in an office to earn a few extra quid.

Ask them for written details of what their service includes, and perhaps a copy of their standard contract.

If they can't provide any written documents, it might suggest that they're a bunch of amateurs with big ideas.

'Relocation Service' is the sort of thing major Businesses offer their employees when moving office location and the Business are paying for it.

It could cover all sorts of things, finding the houses to look at; sorting schools and suchlike as well as the mundane packing and removals of chattels in the end.

    It's for the cash-rich, time-poor among use?
