Missed payment to NatWest

Options
I made my payment to my credit card to arrive by the 5th November deadline as I always do. However, because I was disorganised I sent a minimum payment of £85 and not £96, and rightly was charged a late payment fee for the first time in 11 years of banking. This has obviously seriously annoyed me as I didnt want to lose my unblemished record

I have received an unnecessarily strongly worded letter today informing me today and telling me to make a payment of £11 to my account, which I have done. This was the first time I noticed. However, as I am making this payment 3 weeks after and it looks like I didnt make any payment at all, will there be any other issues for my credit file other than it being noted as a late payment?

As you say, a partial payment (which is less than the minimum repayment required) is indistinguishable on a credit file from a full payment which arrived late but, if this is your sole transgression in 6 years, your credit worthiness won't be affected.

If this were a promotional offer (perhaps it isn't), I would be more concerned about whether the special low interest rate(s) are still in force. Most lenders routinely revoke 0% introductory rates and other special offers following a late payment.
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.

Oh, I know my credit worthiness wont be affected, its just the pride of ruining my perfect record.

I feel like I should be demanding hundreds of pounds off of them now and sulking and threatening to close my account ;):D

THe most annoying thing is yes, I have lost a promotional offer, but whose fault is that? Even more annoying is that I wanted to ask for a limit increase next month. I will just have to wait a few more to see.

Barclaycard were reported (on Ch4 Teletext this week as I recall) as saying that a missed payment now would be taken into account when assessing your application for credit.

Then again, they have really tightened up following the recent credit crunch and are currently declining around 50% of applicants.

So I'm guessing this would also factor in when they review accounts, since they appear to do a credit search for that.

Maybe it is worth a nice letter to the bank explaining what had happened and that it was a genuine mistake. They put 'LP' on your record - they can take it off! A long shot, I know, but worth a shot i'd say.

I had a Loan Shortfall acrue on one of my old Natwest loans, that wasn't my fault, it was the banks for not setting something up properly. I filed it with equifax after getting a credit check with the, within days equifax had been in touch with NatWest who corrected my record, so it can be done!! Good Luck

NatWest havent marked a missed payment on the latest upate on my credit file, so looks like I have got away with it.

That would bother me far more than losing the promo rate.
