Peugeot 207 needs a new starter motor

Any ideas how much is a fair price, VAT and Labour inclusive?

Many thanks

You have not said which engine but I would expect around £100 to £150 for the motor and an hours labour. Around £150 to £200 all in.

If you know someone handy with tools it normally takes about 30 minutes to change a starter motor.
  • I would agree with the above. I recently paid £120 for an Alfa Romeo in a local garage, I'm in Northern Ireland though.

I think the OP just wants a starter motor not the whole car :o

Thanks to all for your replies - I have a mobile mechanic coming tomorrow, who says it's a 1 to 1.5 hour job - for £195 all inclusive (Labour and Parts).

The one thing I'm slightly dubious about - he says that what our breakdown service told us about the car needing to be elevated on to a ramp to change the starter motor (as Peugeot put them at the bottom of the engine bay, as opposed to near the top) is not strictly correct - and that he has changed them on Peugeots that are parked ROADSIDE.

Can anyone corroborate? I understand there ARE certain things on cars that can only be replaced / repaired while on a ramp - is that not the case with starter motors...?
  • If he is a mobile mechanic them he will have drive on ramps / jack's etc in his van to raise it and allow him to lie under it to work. Same as most people do when undertaking repairs at home.

Having a ramp or pit like MOT stations have makes it easier for the mechanic to stand up and work under a car.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
