Doorstep selling by MSE

Tuesday, 24th. September, 2019, 19:20
After all the warnings we receive about not buying anything on our doorsteps, I have just been disturbed in my own home by 'Piers Thurston', who had an identification tag with his name, his photo, and a MoneySavingExpert title at the top, explaining that he was working for Money Saving Expert to 'discuss my energy needs'.
I have several notices, clearly displayed on my door, about me not wanting to be disturbed by doorstep sellers, or canvassers, which he totally ignored, so I informed him of my disgust at his actions, and told him that I would be reporting him for not respecting my wishes, but I can't find anywhere to report him, only these forums, so if anyone could pass this message on to the appropriate person I would be most grateful.
The notices on my door have more or less eliminated doorstep sellers, but I was surprised that it took someone working for Money Saving Expert to bring back my memories of constant interruptions from these unwanted pests.

He was nothing to do with MSE. It's a company called money expert who are completely different. Just send them off with a flea in there ears if they come back.

Is it this company do you think?

There are contact details at the bottom of the page. I would contact them to express your disgust and report his actions.

    Bad advice IMO.
MoneyExpert.com agents may well be doing a good service in getting people to save £300 and more leaving rip off suppliers.
Not everyone is savvy when it comes to energy suppliers. Absolutely no need to be sending anyone off, with a flea in their ear, without at least being good mannered and listening to what the sales staff are saying
  • Had one of them about a year ago on my doorstep - he was very sneaky, also pretending to be from MSE, politely asking me conversational questions about my energy & hitting buttons on his iPad for certain things like inputting my house number he read on my door, who my energy provider was & getting a little impatient when I refused to tell him which tariff I was on.
I suspect he was slyly putting a quote & switch through.
He looked a bit surprised & promptly turned on his heels & left when I told him I work in financial regulation....
Nothing in his behaviour made me think he was being honest or had my interest at heart. He was just after his sale commission. Proven when he ran away as fast as he could when he knew he'd been rumbled.

If anyone ignores my wishes by disregarding the signs that I have clearly displayed on my door, they deserve everything that they get. Why should I be good mannered to someone that ignores my wishes, and then lies to me about what their intentions are? This is not going to happen.

I have just spoken to MoneyExpert.com customer services and they say that the notices on doors should not be ignored, and that the agents should not be misleading potential customers. They also said that they have a very strict disciplinary procedure for those agents not adhering to the rules.
The CS person asked for my house number so that she could take my property off of their list, and I pointed out that their agents should not be disturbing anyone with a notice on their door, and there should be no reason to have a list if the rules were being followed, and she acknowledged that this was true. MoneyExpert.com seem to be aware of the rules, lets hope that they can get their staff to obey them.

Rubbish! I'll listen to what sales staff are saying when I have initiated the conversation not them.

Agreed that not everyone understands the energy market .....but I suspect that these agents will only be pushing the deals that give them the most commission - not the tariffs which save the customer the most money!!!
