It rises as each fare bucket sells out as people are booking.
If they had 100 seats remaining on Saturday it could have been...
4 @ £51
next 8 @ £81
next 8 @ £101
next 8 @ £121
next 8 @ £131
next 8 @ £151
the numbers are made up but it is people booking flights, reducing remaining capacity that drives the prices up...
you didn't want to book at £120 bit others did and that fare bucket is now sold out and on to the next one...
If nobody had booked seats since Sunday...they would still be available at £510 -
Thomas Cook airlines are not flying so capacity has dropped.
In the short term nobody can use those slots or fly those planes until the administrators sell the landing slots.
As above , dynamic pricing says if you have the only 2 seats left you can charge what you likeEx forum ambassador

It is a bit more complicated that a simple supply and demand equation with flights.
You can sometimes find that flights with a connection can be cheaper than direct for the same route eg Manchester to London to New York (and return) can be cheaper than London to New York on the same flight. Also, buying your ticket from a different point of sale (ie different country) can influence price. We once bought through a global travel agent who sourced the flight we wanted through Canada to bring the price down on a direct London to USA route.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
