Can't get WiFi Extending Socket to work?

Help please

I bought a WiFi extender - the type that is a double socket, USB and exteder all in one. DH has fitted it but..... my Virgin Router has no WPS button so can't set it up that way, its not connected to the internet so can't connect via the website and my PC can't read a QRcode - am I bu**ered??? or can anyone give me some suggestions please

WPS would certainly be the preferred method I imagine. Your PC won't read a QR code, your phone is what you should use.

I can try reading the QR code on my phone - but will that give me access via my computer?

Tried - needs to be able to connect to the network which is the root of the problem!

Logon to the website over wifi on your phone and scan the QR in ??

Surely you use whatsapp?


If so copy the address onto a whatsapp to someone and then use https://web.whatsapp.com/ on your computer to retrieve it.

If it's a BG British General one:

1. Using a phone or tablet, connect to the new Wi-Fi network called BG. (no password is required) which is locally generated by the new extender. (Note if the BG network is not showing, please reset the Wi-Fi socket.)
2. Enter http://bg.repeater.net into your browser search bar on the phone or tablet.

Other makes will probably be similar - you need to connect to the extender using wifi and no other network to start with.

Yes I do use Whatsapp. Just found where the WPS button is on my router so will give it another try - thanks for all the suggestions
