O/S Daily Tuesday 24 September 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

We had a dry day yesterday and then in the evening the rain started, it's forecast for all day today and on and off every day until the end of the week.

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, mushrooms and beans - delicious it was too. I remembered to get the pork loins out to defrost - they will become pork loins steaks and prosciutto with creamy vegetables for tonight's dinner. It's a new recipe.

Yesterday work was fairly quiet but we still had no systems and the problem is much worse than first thought, so we haven't been told when to expect systems back - hopefully it'll be fixed when I get into the office this morning.

Keep safe and well x

It's raining again! Yesterday turned into a lovely afternoon, only sorry I wasn't home to put the washing out!

I managed an hour shifting rubble, got some of the stubborn bricks out with a sledge hammer that has appeared from somewhere (probably left by the decking chaps). I'm certainly not as fit as I was!

Sounds like your little stool is very helpful dumpling.
Glad the burn is healing TA.
Take care on the drive back to Glasgow Gers, the roads are very wet, hope you've enjoyed your few days of freedom.

Right, best get out the door, don't like to be late in the pool, someone steals your lane!

    Take care. XX
  • Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

It is pouring here and we have had thunder and lightning, most dramatical. The weatherman says this is going to continue through the day so I'm not likely to get anything much done outside. Plenty to occupy me indoors though.

The handyman arrived yesterday, late but stayed until he had done all the repairs and a couple of minor things on top, nice chap too.

I might spend some time today on de-spiderwebbing, I have never ever lived in a house with so many big spiders. I don't mind them but don't like webs in every corner. Rather spiders than flies.

Nelski, hope your treatment goes really well.

    Wishing everyone a good day

    Good morning everyone.

As Camelot said, yesterday afternoon turned out to be bright and sunny so I spent some time in the front garden pulling up dead weeds and eating red currants. Then I found some tiny but delicious blackberries coming through the huge honeysuckle right at the back. Small pleasures indeed.

Dumpling - I'm so pleased that you are able to do more because of the perching stool.

AOD - plenty of spiders here too. Mostly those small but long-legged ones. My cleaner clears them out every fortnight.

Nelski - good luck with your op.

My time at home has been fantastic, I how to repeat it. I'll be heading back to Glasgow mid-morning.

Now I wish everyone a happy Tuesday.
  • Morning folks and a big grr from me. Yet another post of waffle has shot off into the depths of my aging lappy.

It's the calm before the storm here but we have heavy rain forecast from mid morning. I hope by then I shall be safely installed in the coffee shop with oldest buddy for our coffee and lunch meet up.

Yesterday's wait for my bloods at the hospital was surprisingly quick. In and out in less than half an hour.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried, lonely and absent friends. Thinking of TAFF. Hope all went well for NELSKI yesterday. Take care all and fingers crossed my condensed missive sends this time! x

  • Morning everyone

The rain has started here as well and it is really heavy, thankfully we haven't got the thunder and lightning like you AOD.

I'm at the museum this morning and need to get a few things in town when I finish. As it's too wet to go anywhere I will just get on with some tidying and cupboard decluttering when I get in.

TA glad the burn is getting better.
The stool sounds really helpful dumpling.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Good morning, it's grey and gloomy here, with heavy rain forecast for this afternoon. Yesterday was quite nice, warmish but a damp feel to the air.

Hope your treatment went well Nelski.
Glad you didn't have to wait long TA. They seem to have TV's in most hospital waiting rooms these days, but I'm frightened to get too absorbed in case I miss my name being called!!

That stool will make your life easier Dumpling.

There are loads of spiders in this house at the moment, as I've found when doing the housework, tiny, huge, every size is available here, anyone wanting any just say.

Pleased you've enjoyed your time at home Gers, I hope it can be arranged again.

Going to Tai chi this morning, and we'll have Dgs from midmorning till about 5.30, but it doesn't look as if we'll get out with him this arvo, sadly. There's no pleasure in going to the park in heavy rain.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can anyway.
    Take care folks xx
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

It's lashing down here, Beano does not want to go for a walk in the rain and has gone back to bed with Steve.
Stroke club today and my turn to cook, no idea what they want me to do until I get there, I have made a huge apple crumble for pudding.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Hissing down here, I have a meeting this afternoon, hope the roads are
ok, there are bits that are prone to flooding.

No idea what OH is going to do whilst I am out, its too wet to garden.

Gers glad you enjoyed your break 6 months away from your little hoose is an awful long time.

Good luck with the lunch Hester.........

I've made it back to Glasgow in good time. Roads were fairly busy but all moving and the rain hasn't come on too hard.

It's been seven months since DM fell on 08 March. I feel so much better for having had time in my own place, doing my own thing, seeing my own friends and sleeping in my own bed. It seems to have a little shape which fits me perfectly and doesn't hurt my knee too much.

DM friend has been brilliant. He's really meticulous about 'order' and doing his role properly.

Gosh, it's flu jabs time again. I must see what will happen as I haven't registered with the GP here and don't want to. My part part time employer gave out flu vouchers last year so perhaps it will do so again.

I've forgotten my lovely new cardigan, well, not so much forgotten as couldn't find it. I searched everywhere and even pulled out the two sofas in case I had just chucked it too far, no luck. Halfway down the road I had a sudden 'vision' of it entangled with my jimjams and so under the duvet at home. I'm such a numpty sometimes.
