Thomas Cook pay out of 15k - lost?

Hi there,

Sad news for all concerned - just such a sad sad day for so many people.

We have had a compensation claim going through with Thomas Cook for two years which was due to be settled in a few weeks time - we were going through the final details. Payout was to be around £15k for our party of seven who were hospitalised with sickness.

I am assuming this will now be lost? I have contacted my solicitors who were not helpful at all.

Seems ironic as they have been around for 178 years and we only needed to go another couple of weeks. I am keeping things in perspective as I know there are a lot of families who are going to be affected far more than me. : (

  • Yup, you will more than likely be getting sod all, but feel free to add yourself to the queue of unsecured creditors and you may get 0.1p in the pound in a years time if you are lucky.

To be honest though, of all the people affected by this, the compo hunters arent going to be getting much sympathy

Depends really whether the claim was going through TC direct or their insurers, perhaps your solicitor can confirm.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear
  • You'll be at the back of a very long queue, unfortunately.
  • I suspect at that level it may have been dealt with in house within TC rather than with insurers but if the original claim was much higher, it might have been dealt with by their public liability insurers who would still be liable to pay
  • There won’t be anything coming from TC.
Check the contract with your solicitors to make sure you’re not liable to pay their fees in case of them being unable to pay for any reason too.
