Well that is a different point entirely. I don't think Labour will get elected in any event & even if it does then it might become too contentious before it's implemented.
I do wonder why Labour haven't suggested taxing the privately educated double for their entire lives.
But it was claimed it violated human rights and I wondered which one. It doesn't seem to be so clear cut.0 -

I find it somewhat ironic that many of Labour policies would probably be ruled unlawful under European law.0

I would think that nearly all the children of Labour politicians are in private schools or have been educated privately. They usually are.
I assume that they mean that they will close all the private schools apart from the ones their children attend?0 -

Be interesting to see which members of Corbyn's, bodyguard, Momentum, received private school education.
I'm sure all will be revealed when the time comes. When Diane Abbott used to appear on This Week. She vigourously defended her own right to choose schools for her children.0 -
It does make the 'private schools shouldn't be charities & get business rates discounts etc' idea more acceptable to many.
Or, they could simply stop charging business rates to state funded schools...0 -

It's hardly ironic, that's why Labour want to leave the EU.I would think that nearly all the children of Labour politicians are in private schools or have been educated privately. They usually are.

Those private schools will become like the Lenin School, aka the "Eton of Cuba", where the children of Castro and Guevara attended. Playing fields, the best teachers, swimming pools, the works.
They will be reserved for the future leaders of the revolution, i.e. the children of the current ones.0 -
Andrew Murray, adviser and Unite chief, Worth boarding school; James Schneider, director of communications, Winchester and Oxford; Seumas Milne, director of strategy, Winchester and Oxford; John McDonnell, shadow chancellor, Great Yarmouth Grammar; Jeremy Corbyn, party leader, Castle House prep school and Adams’ GrammarWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
My personal opinion is that if by some long shot Corbyn did get to number 10, it would only be with other parties propping him up so would never get enough votes to get his ideas through parliament.
I live in an area which is traditionally staunchly labour who have held the seat since about 1922 and for the first time ever I can say I vote Conservative in Public without grief or hassle as lots are now Conservative and slating labour on social media.0 -
Labour won't abolish private schools, they may remove their charitable status though and the way they're funded needs looking at.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080
