WARNING: Money Expert door stoppers

Just a warning about people that sell energy at the door.

I had a guy get into our block by buzzing another property and saying he was coming to read the meter.

He then proceeded to knock on every door, he shouted through the door that it was about the meter.

When the door was opened he said he was from MONEY EXPERT and wanted to talk about saving me money on my energy.

Needless to say I slammed the door in his face.

When will these people realise that consumers will not buy from people who lie to get in front of you.

I have no idea if he was from the Money Expert.com website or was passing himself off, as he had in order to get into the premises.

I was accosted in front of the supermarket the other day by a girl with a money expert t-shirt on. And yes accosted is the right word. Dodging in front of my trolley to try to stop me getting passed her. Maybe she thought as I am older I might be gullible, she thought wrong. At least the RAC men respond to a smile a slight shake of the head & don't bother you!

Haven't been accosted for several years by a girl in a t-shirt - I look forward to my next visit to Tesco with a tingle of anticipation:rotfl:
  • Doorstep cold callers assisting in cheaper energy suppliers in the main are a good thing IMV.
OFGEM appear to have relaxed the rules on cold calling .
Money Expert.com at least will not be representing a single supplier like most of them and could be the way for the occupiers stuck on very high tariffs to get a decent supplier without the eye watering scary rip offs of the standard variables especially prepayment meter rates.
If a doorstep seller can convince someone on prepayment meters moved over to say, Bulb Energy or Nabuh then of all the cold callers pestering people , someone helping prepayment meter customers should be applauded. The cold caller makes prob £50 a time just like the the new Bulb customer and very low fair rates too....All good !

Not sure why people recommend Bulb. For me, using 7200kWh/year they are £150 dearer than my current supplier, Symbio.

More areas should be designated no cold calling areas.

Cold callers are just scum. Bottom feeders who do not care about the customer.

There are charities that can help vunarable people in need change if they want to.

And if they are too stubborn or unwanting of help them a cold caller is not going to be of any use.

I still remember the grimace I had whenever I was at my now dead father's, when he would answer the phone to a random idiot and proceed to talk to them and even believe the things they said. We are not in that world anymore.

    1. Do it yorself.

    2. Ask a charity for help. A cold caller is not a charity. Even if they claim they are.

    3. Make sure it is a legitimate charity, I think most of them out there should not be allowed the status.

Perhaps the £50 or more backhander they receive for each recommendation made that goes onto result in a new successful application may be a factor? :ccol:
