washer dryer needs attention after 1 year ...

Hi
I bought a Beko washer / dryer from Currys around 18 months ago. It's door wont close properly, and I dont really want to mess around with the hinges myself in case i make it worse!
I called Currys and they are unwilling to help saying guarantee was one year only.
Surely theres an EU law somewhere where I can quote where theyre obliged to repair an appliance even after 1 year?

Surely not.....after 6 months onus is on you to show any fault is inherent. You would need an engineer report to confirm this and paid for at your expense (which you could claim back if an inherent fault).0

Sometimes contacting the manufacturer directly might help as there could be an inherent issue with certain components fitted under certains models manufactured under the same batch.
Either ways, depending on the issue reported - if they are a 'helpful' bunch - they will offer support and fix for the same without going via the retailer/Curry's since it is outside of warranty.Hi

It certainly doesn't hurt to try the manufacturer, but please note that you have no consumer rights with the manufacturer (other than those afforded by any valid warranty).0

If it's simply dropped slightly, then tightening the hinges up is probably going to solve it. Nothing you can't do yourself. Next time, buy from JL not DSG, as you get a 2 year warranty. No free lunch, and no free laptop
