Warranty sent refurbished item

Options
Hi
I bought a alienware PC worth £2000++ with 1 year warranty expecting premium service/components, something went wrong with it and they think the graphic card is faulty and they sent me a refurbished one to replace mine. Is something I can do ? I mean, if the products are not good enough to hold even 1 year as the warranty is still available, I should not receive a brand new one to replace the faulty one?

If you're using the warranty then it's down to the terms of the warranty. There's no automatic right to new for old - it's not unreasonable for them to put you into the position you ought to be in i.e. with a used working graphics card rather than a used faulty graphics card.

It seems the way a lot of companies are going now, perfectly legal but something I don't like personally.
On the plus side I doubt there's much they can do to repair a graphics card so you'll probably find it's a new one.
  • I have "premium support" so they need to come at my house to replace components. I saw on the graphic card package, it had a seal on which it was written "refurbished" with bold letters

A refurbished graphics card is more than likely one that was purchased and then returned as unwanted.
If the seal that was originally on the package had been broken then they probably wouldn't be able to resell it as new so they may just give it a test and call it refurbished.

I wouldn't worry too much if the graphics card is of the same compatible model/firmware version and is still under warranty and support from the OEM manufacturer

You can check this info directly with the graphics card manufacturer support website with your card's part no:/serial number.

How long between purchase and needing to use the repair service? If it's only a month or so then I'd expect a new card ... 6+ months then a refurb is perfectly acceptable.

In between .... ? Well the CRA says that you can reject goods for a full refund (within 6 months) if the goods have had a single repair attempt and they still don't conform to contract. This could infer that any replacement part should be new within the 1st 6 months, but a tested refurb is probably no worse.

Is the OP not claiming under warranty as opposed to CRA .
