Bank account without partner knowing
PPPv2
Hey guys I know it's strange but I'd like to o have a bank account and my partner have no idea. Reason is we are highly in debt to CC which I have managed to put most in to my name interest free, my partner has car finance which is nearly same as CC size debt, and my car that a kind family member lent me (everything is in their favour if I default) plus our mortgage. My partner loves to shop but we also don't have any savings now as we had to use it what very little there was last month. So I'd like an account where I can get paperwork sent to a family members home and try to save a bit for when we need it. Is there a bank that would do it or is there another way? Yes I could keep cash but least in a bank I know it's safe.
As I said I know it's strange but I need to think about me here and try not to work 50-70 hour weeks

Someone asked the same question recently...i think within the last 2 weeks. Maybe spend a few minutes looking back?0

YorkshireBoy Is Right and from memory the consensus seemed to br that the wasn't really an account where you could absolutely guarantee that nothing would ever be sent to your house
so you either have to hold it in cash and forgo any interest of course or have a look at other creative ideas for example premium bonds or something like that (although again I would suspect you will get something sent to your address)0 -
Registering a bank account to your family home if you don't actually live there might cause you a problem, you normally have to state your main residential address. You also need to access your account, eg online or via an app, so trying to hide it might involve a lit of sneaking around.
Not to mention that you then have to get money to it from your main account and those transfers might be noticed to.
Much better just to tell your partner what you are doing and why. If he/she doesn't like it then you need to talk about that. If they continue to shop while allowing you to put their debt in your name, that's tantamount to abuse and you have to have a serious think about your relationship. I'm sure everyone loves to shop but most people would prioritise their partner's happiness and financial security over their shopping habits0 -
If you already have a personal account that your partner does not have access to, you could open up an easy access online saver with the same bank (one that doesn't supply a card) then if any paperwork does arrive it would be from your usual bank.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

Revolut is an option.
Not a perfect solution, but you can have a virtual debit card which can be linked to a mobile wallet such as Apple/Google/Samsung pay.
This would mean no paperwork at all being delivered to your address.0 -
If you're looking at longer term savings, then maybe p2p like ratesetter.0

Sounds awfully familiar to another post that was posted not too long ago.
Spam or multiple accounts?0 -
Nobody has been nearly judgemental enough on this thread.
You need to sort out the fundamentals of your relationship without deception - once you start deceiving or lying you'll end up down a rabbit hole from which there's no escape other than divorce.
One of the fundamentals is finance.
And finally, PPP is a lovely protocol.0 -

Maybe the OP is already in or nearing that rabbit hole, and wants to practice some damage control for if/when the !!!! hits the fan.Debt Free: 01/01/2020
