golf mk6 judder problem
hi all, i bought a 2010 mk6 1.6 tdi match and everything was brill love the car but 3 days ago when setting off in first gear i get a judder and also in reverse. but once it's in second and every other gear its fine and drives good. I've looked on other forums and can't exactly find the problem only bits and bats. some say clutch some flywheel and some engine mounts. I've had a price to do the clutch and flywheel and fitting for £655 but don't want to go down this route if not needed. I've done the clutch test in 2nd 3rd 4th 5th gear to see if it stalls and it does. from what i can hear there's no tapping tinging sound from flywheel (happened when flywheel went on another of my cars)
has anyone had the same problem or maybe know what could be the problem thanks.

I've owned a few cars where the clutch judders when the weather starts turning cold and damp due to the clutch plate expanding at different rates. A new clutch could solve the problem but might not be necessary. How does it feel once the engine is properly warmed up?Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -

its same cold and hot mate. think i might have a hole in exhaust by the flexi pipe do you think that could cause the problem. its booked into kwik fit tomorrow for exhaust.0 -
they was no hole in the exhaust just a bracket missing in the centre thats been replaced but the guy who works there said he thinks clutch is on the way out0

Surprised that's all he found wrong.

I'd avoid people like KwitFit and find yourself a decent local independent (there are plenty of them around) and get a proper opinion on it.

Its the Dual Mass flywheel quite noticable when its working fine you will feel it clunking hitting the stops.
Is that the price for a quality brand and new DMF and clutch, seems too cheap. Last Golf it was about £600 just for parts or £1000 for solid conversion.
Dont trust Kwik Fit0 -
Does it do it all the time or just when setting off from cold?
If it's OK when the engine is warm then it's probably just condensation.
Please don't take your car to Kwik Fit.0 -
Sounds like clutch wear,my old Vauxhall Astra does the same but still drives ok,in fact i still manage to stall it now and again ( i used to be a white van man and used to a diesel which would pull away in second gear if needed )as i only do a couple of thousand miles a year cannot see the justification in a new clutch but as yours is a hot hatch and MIGHT be driven like a boy racer your clutch will not last long.0
