Parking fines - who pays

I'm looking for some advice here. My husband works as a self employed driving a company van and he was delivering goods. The area where he delivered had only 'permit holder' bays only so he had to park on double yellow. He got a parking fine, this is not the first one, he has paid before the fines himself, however the company who gives him the jobs do know that some areas have restricted parking.
From my point of view i think it should be the company paying the fine considering this is a company van he is driving and he had no other option to park somewhere else. Where does the law stand on situations like these? He approached the company who do not want to pay the fine.

Hi,
the person who did the illegal parking should pay, didn't obey the rules,0 -
The company should not pay because your husband is acting illegally.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

There will always be an option or he should forward plan and speak to the company about other suggestions.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Why did he have no other option?
Could he not have parked down the road/street?
Could he not have refused to do the delivery?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. If only MSE had a dedicated subforum for parking ticket issues!0

Definitely his own liability if he's self employed.
If he was an employee, then probably the employer should pay if there really was no alternative.
liabilities and responsibilities on the individual are higher when self employed.0 -

Presumably, using the same logic, if he worked in a kitchen, and he ended up murdering someone by deliberately stabbing them with a knife from that kitchen, it would be the employer in the dock as it was they that that provided him the knife, not your husband who actually killed the victim.
I'm sure if he did kill someone deliberately with a knife, he would also have felt he had no option but to kill that person.0 -

Why are delivery drivers slapped with parking fines during their delivery round? Police and Ambulances park on double yellows and in permit holder only areas if they need too. If the driver can find a bay not in use then surely they could park there while delivering or if each bay is numbered with the house or flat and that is empty then parking there shouldn't need a parking ticket issued.
Residents parking on streets always allow 10 minutes at least.
Did the van have a company name on it?Someone please tell me what money is0 -
I would add that I know if an emergency worker is accused of causing death by careless or dangerous driving, perhaps whilst under an emergency response ordered by their employer, it is always the driver who ends up in the dock, not the employer who provided the vehicle involved.0
