Troubles with incorrect meter data - help!
Hi all,
I've got a problem which seems to stem from when I had new meters installed.
From what i gather, it looks like the meter serial number was missing or incorrect when recorded by the installation engineer.
Now, I've recently (3months ago) moved from Scottish power to EDF, and this is clearly causing problems, with my account stuck in 'final registration'.
I am now trying to chase weekly, and have submitted the correct meter numbers and serials numbers to EDF to confirm, however i guess when they confirm these new numbers to Scottish power, they mismatch, and (It would appear) round the loop I go again! EDF are very polite about this, but nothing is actually happening despite repeated assurances.
Does anyone know if there is anything I can do? - perhaps there's some central database of meter numbers that I can get changed, or should I go to Scottish power in a a vague attempt to resolve myself?
Any help of guidance would be very much appreciated!

report a 'crossed meter' to EDF and they should be able to fix it within 30 days.0

Thanks meterman! Good to know the official term formwhat's happened.
Seems like they keep giving me another '3-4 weeks' whenever I contact them! How long do you think I should let it go on for before raising complaint?0 -
Raise it now, coz it will take another eight weeks before you can escalate it to the ombudsman.
Sometimes, the raising of a complaint has a more motivational effect on the supplier than just keep try to get through the so called help desk (not always)Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
It is only a 'crossed meter' if the meter serial numbers for a number of properties are record against the wrong property (crossed). If the records for your house are just wrong (say an 8 instead of areport a 'crossed meter' to EDF and they should be able to fix it within 30 days.
that is not a crossed meter.
Do you not have the paperwork the engineer left when he exchange the meter? It should the old and new meter serial numbers, the final and initial meter readings.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

You will not be able to change the "central database of meter numbers" (if such a thing does exist) - only your current supplier can resolve that if there is an issue.
Have you checked your EDF bills against your meter to ensure they are using your meter for billing purposes?0
