Good afternoon everyone, I'm late through laziness.
Thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I am feeling a bit jaded, the rain overnight was so heavy that it woke me several times and eventually I gave in a d came downstairs and then it slackened off, though has returned at intervals. OH slept right through it.
So, I've read, watched some recorded tv, knitted a bear, had a bath, done some washing up and that sort of thing. Later I will be making some southern - fried chicken and that's about it really, couldn't cut the lawn yesterday because the tree surgeon from over the back felt it was safer for me to stay up by the house and now it is too wet.
Hope everyone is having a reasonable day. TA I scalded my hand and wrist, had a similar dilemma which was solved in the same way.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Afternoon folks. As much as I love my DGDs it was nice when DD arrived mid lunch to pick them up! She said the wedding yesterday was amazing, the service, reception and evening do all held at the same venue - a beautiful Jacobean stately home near Malton, where they have only quite recently started to do weddings. She had taken loads of photos and it all looked gorgeous - and no doubt very expensive!!
My feet are now up and staying up. The tidying up can wait a while!
The forecast thunderstorms never materialised though we did have a heavy downpour mid morning which came to nothing! It still feels mild.
Hope you are all managing to have a good day xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Mr Zaxdog is away to work and I have just had a bout of cooking :-)
1. Prepped tonight's dinner: chicken thighs, new potatoes, broccoli & asparagus (his favourite)
2. Making stock with: thigh bones/scraps, potato & carrot peelings, chopped broccoli & asparagus stalks and peppercorns
3. Prepped tomorrows dinner: root veg and the last two thighs, deboned and chopped for a slow cooker casserole
4. Roasted some broccoli for my lunch tomorrow: roasted broccoli rice in lettuce cups0 -
When I got myself together I decided to drive up to Oban. I wanted to burn a load of papers though the garden incinerator which Camelot gave me a couple of years ago is now a falling apart heap of rust. Too long out in the rain. Anyway got a little one and then visited friends on the way back. They live in a house right on the edge of Loch Melfort so it was soothing to watch the moored boats bobbing around in the waves.
Papers are now burnt. Feet are up. Chinese takeaway eaten. :j
TA - you work so hard with your DGD’s. Enjoy your rest.
AOD - sorry to read that you’re jaded. I hope it soon passes. If I remember correctly it was you asking about shampoo for an itchy scalp? Recently I’ve been trying Aveeno soothing shampoo and found it really good. For me it’s a useful substitute for the dreaded H&S.
After some pressure from DM and the friend who is looking after her I’m now staying at home until Tuesday morning. What a treat.0 -
Ooooo Gers, where did you get the Chinese food? I like the Crystal Palace :j0

Evening all,
Raining here all day, to anniversary mass for BIL this morning, OH couldn't come as he had to watch the second half of the Ireland /Scotland rugby from Yokohama.......there were very few men in the church, so he obviously wasn't the only one!! I love rugby but not that much! After the rugby coverage there has been county hurling matches......hopefully the last one will be over soon!
We are going to Achill Island I Mayo on Tuesday for a couple of days, then back to Galway via Connemara, home on Saturday . I am looking forward to a few days away, for some reason I haven't been up to organising any time away this year.....probably should have gone last week as it seems as if the weather has well and truly broken.
Hugs and good wishes to everyone.

Hi everyone ...just been having a catch-up. I had little grand daughter to stay on Friday night...she slept for 10 hours and woke up smiling at 6.30am. Went to M and S for coffee with my mam and dad, then met DD and we went into town for a wander and some lunch. I came home and spent a couple of hours in the sunshine, finishing last week's Sunday Times. Then back down to DDs for Chinese for tea and lots more cuddles and play with baby girl. This afternoon, I have been busy cutting the grass at DDs house and digging up some weeds in an area where I'm going to put down grass seeds. Still quite a bit to clear though, I imagined it would be easier!
I had a very early bath when I came home at about 5 and a nice chat with eldest DD Going to read some of my Times with a cuppa and then watch some TV0
