My insurance has put a category s on my vehicle said subframe was bent I have had an independent mechanic to check all measurement are correct with manufactures specifications the only thing that was noticeable to him was a split rubber on the lower control arm (WISHBONE) that was causing vehicle to drift slightly after an minor accident and is an easy fix just replace wishbone. Can I dispute the decision?
Thank you

Your mechanic thinks a split rubber is causing the car to drift?
I'd change mechanics.0 -

Just buy the car back at a reduced value and get it fixed.0 -

They've declined to repair it, because they prefer to pay out the pre-accident value, since they think it's going to be cheaper = it's been written off, so there's a VCAR category assigned.
They've decided that the damage is structural, rather than non-structural = Cat S.
They're paying you the value, so it's no longer your car, unless you come to an agreement to keep it (usually in exchange for a %age of the payment). After that, you can repair it as you wish. But one thing's for sure - a split bush won't cause it to pull. A bent arm might, but so would a bent subframe.0 -
The wheel was drifting out of alignment. As. Mentioned ths sub frame has no problems, all measurements are exact to manufacture specs.
All i would like to know is if i can dispute the decision?
Thank you0 -
That'd be a monumentally knackered - to the point of being damn near missing - bush, to allow the arm to actually move.0

And i got the vehicle back, plus payment, but after he took the wishbones off i could see exactly what was wrong, the pivot edge on the right hand side had split, if i can dispute it then thanks, if not please let me know so that I can deal with it a different way0

It was an impact on the drivers side, scrape from front wing to drivers door before the driver decides to pull out of the side of my car0

So insurance have already paid out as a write-off, and you've accepted that?
Then that's that. They chose to go CatS because of what they felt was the most likely potential damage. You accepted that at the time. If you think they over-estimated the damage, then you're simply lucky with the repairs.0
