Have you received any earnings from a past employer any time during this assessment period?Chrisw030290 wrote: »Hi don't know if anyone has had the same problem

No I have had no pervious job or anything like that it's just a shock to find they taken £355 off I've been handing in sick notes and there up to date untill end of October
Could it be my NI number been cloned or a error if do how long do they take to fix as they can take months to fix a error0 -
You could look at your personal tax account online at https://www.gov.uk/personal-tax-account
This will show what payments you have received from employers and what tax has been deducted. If the DWP can see reported earnings they will also appear on your personal tax account.
This will show you the employer that has made the payment. If you think the payment has been made to you in error you will need to contact HMRC.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
According to the thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6048024/random-esa-letter
You're receiving ESA, is this contributions based ESA you're receiving? If so then the deductions in your UC will be because of the ESA.
When did you claim UC and what reason did you claim UC?0 -

If it is ESA then it hasn't been accounted for correctly and OP has been overpaid UC. ESA should be deducted in full, not treated as earnings subject to a 63% taper. For contribution based ESA Support Group at £111.65/week I would expect a monthly deduction of £483.82/month.
Ihowever if the OP had been treated as having earnings of £492 you would expect the UC deduction to be 310, rather than the £355 the OP states.
OP, if you are still unclear, on Monday ring the helpline to get more information about the earnings they think you have received and if necessary raise a dispute.
Have you received an income tax refund? That would be treated as earnings.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
