Noise complaint - ask Council to Enforce abatement order

Good morning,
I have made several complaints against my neighbor from July 2017 regarding noise from parties ( music people shouting etc).
In October 2018 (after over a year ) they were finally served an abatement order which made it clear they were not to cause any further disturbance.
Yesterday they hosted another event on the terrace just adjacent to my house.
I want to ask what I can do to make sure that the Council enforces this abatement order so that they stop doing these parties for good.
I have the feeling the Council is taking a very soft approach regarding this matter: it took them over a year to serve them a notice and the last thing I want is for this to be repeated.

Many Thanks

You cannot "make sure" the council enforces it, they have discretion about what they throw more personnel/money at. You can of course put pressure on via councillors etc. And/or you can pursue your own legal action against the neighbours.
  • 1 in a year isn’t so bad. Maybe wait and see if that’s it.

Compared with many noise issues people raise here, a loud party once or twice a year is comparatively mild. I doubt if enforcement will follow.

Perhaps you think they are testing the water, and they may indeed be doing so, but you will only find out in the fullness of time. Meanwhile, reports to the council will continue to build a picture for them to act on, if necessary.
  • Hi, yes You got my point.
It's not the event as such, I am mostly worried they might be testing the waters to start again and then i could find myself in the same situation again having to complaint for months.
I guess I will have to wait and see how it evolves, in the meantime I shall report this to the Council.
    Thank You
