O/S Daily Saturday 21 September 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, but air doesn't feel as cold as it has been. Forecast is good again today.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, I'm working this morning. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was chicken enchilades, skinny chips and coleslaw for the menfolk. I had fishcakes with a caponata that was just made up as I went along, but was delicious - trouble is there's no recipe, so probably will struggle to replicate it again! But tasted so good. Tonight I'm not sure what we're having but will organise something. DS1 going to the football away game today so they'll be leaving before lunch and he says he'll organise his own dinner as unsure what time they'll get back. He got his car back after the service and MOT - it had a couple of things that needed attention so was longer than anticipated and cost quite a bit - but all sorted now.
Hoping we'll just be able to visit parents then chill later, menfolk going to be sports viewing tomorrow, lots of rugby and formula 1.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning folks.
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Today is the day :j:j:j I'm a twitchy mixture of excitement and anxiety. I've organised everything more than is probably necessary. One neighbour coming each day to spend tine with DM and another on alert. Food is planned and set out. Think I'm going a bit potty with it all.
Today is meant to be gloriousl with rain coming in tomorrow so I'm so looking forward to having a bit of time in my garden again.
Speky - my knee problems have gone beyond physio. I was diagnosed with OA in it back in 2012 and have been putting off surgery since then. This may be the time now, we'll see.
Amidst all this I am still thinking of all those struggling and now wish everyone a happy Saturday. It's SCD day.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. GERS I can feel your excitement. Have a lovely weekend and I hope all goes to plan with DM.
The cloud has yet to lift here but it feels mild and they are still forecasting blue sky and sunshine for us all day. I got a mountain of washing dry outside yesterday and even ironed it last night!
The 2 younger DGDs are not due until lunchtime so a peaceful morning - calm before the storm! Fortunately they are both SCD fans and are sharing my excitement that tonight is the night!
When the girlies are dropped off after ballet it will just be something quick 'n easy for lunch, maybe soup and toasties. I got a few packs of low fat mince ys to half price in Iceland t'other day so left one out to defrost o/n as plan on making a shepherd's pie with carrots, peas, roasties and Yorkshire's for dinner tonight.
Have a good day folks and thoughts are with the MIA, sad and poorly. Thinking of TAFF at what is a sad and stressful time. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
Gers I took your advice and am being steadfast. So the hob is still filthy :rotfl: I ate a ready meal and a sandwich yesterday, not sure what to do today that doesn't involve the hob, lol.
I hope you have a good weekend x
Speky Yes the tablets are helping, thanks x He keeps saying 'yes' to people who ask things of him, then moans to me that he has to do these things. I tell him to say no but he won't, to point of not having time to do things he wants to do for himself, and even some things he needs to do. So he ties himself up in knots then ends up like this. I do feel mean sometimes - I know stress is horrible - but he really does do it to himself.
ancientofdays Same here – I clean up as I go so I never really have to do a deep clean because it doesn't get dirty enough
Yesterday was great, we had a nice long calm walk which ended with playtime with Scamp's best mate, then watched two films and I ate lots of chocolate (Scamp had a couple of dog biscuits, lol).
Mr tru has decided to go into work today. I need to do something that makes me move, I sat down for far too long yesterday. Once the washing is on the line and we've been out for a walk, I'll rake the chicken run. Then have a coffee while deciding whether or not I have the energy for anything else

Morning everyone
My niece and her boyfriend did come over yesterday evening and they are buying a house together and hope to move in just after Christmas and plan to get married next summer in a quiet family ceremony so excitement all round.
Today I’m going out shopping shortly and then I am going for an afternoon tea at hotel a few miles away with a neighbour. We are trying to make the most of what is supposed to be the last sunny day.

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I've been MIA for a few days, life getting in the way, we moved yesterday and are now at Midgham lock, we hit a submerged log yesterday so we are waiting for the engineer to arrive as we have bent our propeller.
We had crew yesterday, a friend of Steve's so I only had to do half the work, Beano and I still walked three miles.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Should be a lovely sunny day here, hope so as the deck is now finished and I want to put some oil on it. It's huge so will take forever. Can't start yet as it's still quite wet from the dew (and the fact I power washed it last night!).
Stand strong tru! Glad you had a calm walk with Scampi.
Enjoy your trip home Gers.
Ouch TA.
Have a good holiday Gintot.
Take care taff.
Off to sit with DD later, her partner is going to play football and asked if I would go and keep them company - well who wouldn't want to go for cuddles with a new baby!
Have a happy Saturday, take care. XX0 -
Morning All
I read every day, but for some reason the site keeps telling me my password is incorrect when I log in on my phone, but log in on laptop and password is the same grrrrr. Real life also gets in the way far too often
Just wanted to pop in to send love and prayers to Taff and family ((((((Hugs)))))).
Gers I hope you enjoy your break at home, you need some you time.
Jackie Glad you enjoyed your break and I agree that it is wonderful to see couples who are truly in love, and accept whatever life throws at them. They are an inspiration to all of us.
I want to send a message to all of you, but we are in the process of getting ready to see the DGC. It was DGD birthday last week so we are going up to take them all to lunch. Weather looks like it will be a nice day.
Sending love and hugs to all, Happy Saturday

Lovely sunny morning, have a small load in the washer, forecast is bad for Monday, so as we are going away a week on Monday, will do another wash next Sunday, then it will just be our 'working clothes' in the bin till we come home. Forecast is for rain on and off on Monday.
Chicken out defrosting for supper tomorrow, sausage with mash and veggies tonight. I made a raspberry jelly a couple of days ago, there is enough left for tonight.
Gers......I hope you enjoy your break at home, you have done your best to see that your Mum is ok whilst you are away.........0 -
Morning lovelies
Mad work week this week so MIA again. Looking forward to making the most of a day of sun the sky is just a perfect blue :j
Tonight I have a few good friends round for dinner so I a planning a chilled meal of koftas to start with all the trimmings and a greek salad followed by sea bass and baby potatoes then a lemon tart to follow. Mostly done bar the cooking so I can chill and enjoy this weather. Lots of extra wine needed in the delivery this morning as my girlies cant go short
Taff thinking about you
Enjoy the weather whist it lasts if you can0
