If the EA is in the area that you wish to live then I would look to be viewing properties with them

They’re the largest EA in that area. They’ve emailed again this morning apologising and promising that they’re looking for clarity from the seller. I’ve responded asking for details on a couple of properties on their website.
  • There could be any number of reasons why the seller doesn't want to proceed with their onward purchase which aren't their fault.

For example perhaps their survey uncovered serious issues, or a vendor further on in the chain is causing issues.

It doesn't necessarily mean that your seller is being difficult !

However it is unlikely you would move by December on this property, if the vendors haven't found another property yet.

Thanks for the replies. Sleeping on it, I’ve decided to start looking again and just sit quietly on this seller and see what they do. If they pull out, they pull out. If they ask to delay, I’ll see about renegotiating the price.

I didn’t want to go into rented for 2 reasons, one is that we have pets. The second is my husband has a terminal illness and so moving twice is going to be a lot for him (and for me as I’m dealing with it all while caring for him). However I’ve already started reorganising some of his medical care to our new area, so it may just be better to go into rented. (Our seller is well aware of this and promised they had no intention of pulling out.) Ugh.

If you can go into rented that would give you more leverage when buying but yes pets could be restricting. And if you move to the new area quicker, then at least the medical treatment maybe easier?
    Good luck.
