stretch sofa covers

Having had a couple of quote for new loose sofa covers, and gulped at the price, I have found stretch covers on amazon - stretch to fit any style of sofa and less than 50 quid. I am reluctant to spend a grand on a new cover especially as the cat is going to use them as a scratching post so they won't look new for long, but has anyone tried the stretch covers? do they look ok, or do they look really cheap and tacky? Do they actually stretch so they look like they fit nicely or are there saggy bits? Or does anyone have any other suggestions....

  • I have bought the covers from Amazon and they work very well. they have these foam rollers that you tuck into the sides and back of sofa which hold it all in place. like any cover, you do need to pull them straight from time to time but a great way to spruce up an old sofa in my opinion.

  • I normally buy a large blanket, tuck it in around cushions, tuck round the sides and front.

It's worked for sofas and chairs my previous cats have taken a fancy to and worked wonders on a green leather sofa in a rental.

    Cheap, cheerful and very personal.

We bought the cover from Amazon together with foam rolls. Easy to fit, looked better than previously but the foam rolls do not stay in place and this is not a very elegant solution albeit quite cheap.
  • Just had a catalog in with my newspaper ( has 20% offer code SDM3 printed) that has some:

Thanks everyone, sounds like they are worth a punt, got to be better than what I have at the moment (I have a throw over but I am getting fed up of readjusting it). At least till I teach the cat not to attack the sofa!
