CCJ removal

Can someone please tell me how i can find the exact date a CCJ will be removed from my credit file? I know it is six years from the date it was put on but i only have a very rough idea of when that was.

  • Have a look at your credit report:

    MSE
    Credit karma
    Clearscore

See the date it was granted, add 6 years on to that.

Time does lesson the damage, even if it's showing as unsettled.

What is the reason you are trying to work it out?

Is that not recorded on your credit file?

Or contact the court that served the judgement.

Or check on the Register of Judgements

  • I need a car loan. I know my ccj will be removed some time next year. For now the only loan i can get want me to pay £12,000 for an £8,000 loan. So if i wait i should get a more realistic offer.
  • Have you had any credit since the CCJ went on?

As you need to show you can manage credit and what previously happened was a blip.

Do you have defaults, missed payments, late payments etc?

How much was the CCJ for and who was the loan going to be with?

  • Yes i have three credit cards with Vanquis, Aqua and Ocean. I have never missed a payment or been late and i pay the full amount every month. The CCJ was just over £4,000 and the cheapest loan i was offered was with someone called Lendable.
  • Have you tried your own bank for a loan?

What led you to try Lendable? Their interest rates start from 22.9% and is high to start with.

  • I have been with Santander in their various names for over 40 years. They don't want to give me anything. I tried switching to HSBC and they rejected me. I had never heard of Lendable. They were matched with me on the clear score site.
  • Don’t use lendable or a high APR lender.

Have you not tried other car finance lenders?
  • Yes i have been looking around but nobody wants to know. I think it is best to wait but my car is 14 years old and repairs are costing me more than it's worth.
  • Older cars often cost more to repair than they are worth, but you get another MOT out of it, 12 months of driving and sometimes it is better the devil you know.

Santander and HSBC are not the most flexible with their lending. They prefer cleaner credit history customers.

Can you not buy another run about, go to a mainstream bank for a smaller loan or just fix your present car (if it's welding then I would say ditch it as that's an ongoing repair unless done well eg all the bad metal gone).

How much available credit do you have on your credit cards and what limits are they?
