OFGEM INTERVENTION REQUIRED - TOTO prevents all Solarplicity customers from Switching

I think it is time for OFGEM to intervene with Toto Energy Solarplicity debacle

I have NOT been given my Solarplicity rates (as promised even now on the Toto website) , I have NOT had my credit with Solarplicy, meanwhile the energy rates and standing charges are NOT those I had at Solarplicity,

So you think well if you do not like it then switch, EXCEPT TOTO WILL NOT LET YOU.

I thought this was just my account then I saw on Trustpilot it seems to be everybody who tries to get out of Toto.

  • Hello again Jakubk.

Yes, they have blocked my switch as well. Clear breach of OFGEM licence conditions because they had previously said in writing my account was in credit.

There is enough evidence from Toto's own statements on Trustpilot and Twitter to show they are deliberately and systematically blocking switches without valid reasons.

OFGEM's response to me is we will note it down and you can complain to the Ombudsman in 8 weeks. What about enforcing their own licence conditions.

My intention is to force Toto to honour the other provider's tariff from the original switch date. I hope as many people as possible who have been wrongly blocked from switching will do the same.
  • I just want to add that this is happening to me to.

I was switched from Solarplicity to Toto at the beginning of August. I was over £200 in credit with Solarplicity at the time. I had a dual fuel account

No communication from Solarplicity at all.

I contacted Toto about the credit - they said they hadn't received all the account details yet .

I decided to switch to British Gas rather than stick with them because this is the 3rd company I've been with that's gone bust and forced me to switch to another supplier.

But Toto have blocked my electricity switch to British Gas. My gas account has been let go though. !!!!!!.

So, I have no means of contacting Solarplicity, I have had zero comms from Toto.

This energy market /switching is just a scam IMO.

Would be grateful for any info how to get my money back from these cowboys.

They really should honour the actual Solarplicity Tariff we were paying, not the hiked one.

Another condition of OFGEM is to give customers 28 days notice of changes in Tariff or moving from Tariff, previously they backdated the notice and gave us no choice.

When I brought that to the attention of OFGEM they sent them an email saying please don't do that, so Solarplicity didn't, they did not issue ANY notices thereafter.

    Yes I have seen

"OFGEM's response to me is we will note it down and you can complain to the Ombudsman in 8 weeks. What about enforcing their own licence conditions."

I did this a plethora of times with Solarplicity, they just ignored the complaints that you have to first make to Solarplicity, who then do not issue the 6 week letter.

I wrote to OFGEM directors after obtaining their emails, it got kicked downstairs and they did write a helpful reply, they told be to separate the six complaints and write to the CEO and the complaints lady, with a CC to them.

I did that and got message read receipts from them both, they did nothing for a bit then had some moron write a reply that was just copy and paste nonsense to 4 of the issues, (nothing to do with the issues), ignored the other 2, they merged the 6 complaints into 1 and finally sent me the 6 week letter two weeks later, just before they went bust.

I also plan to force Toto and will take them to Court if necessary, but I am also looking around for other suppliers which is proving very difficuly because of my financial circumstances. I already lost £160, never had my LED's lightbulbs or the promised reduction they included in their quote.

Meanwhile I have written to the MP's responsible (not sure if they will have office after October 31st 2019)

This is so exhausting. Now I am facing a winter of discontent, which for me means absolutely no heating or hot water, except for what I boil for tea or instant soup to keep warm. I am not entitled to that warm allowance thing and I will probably end up even deeper in depression, staying in bed to stay warm.

Meanwhile the Directors of Solarplicity are all right jack, the Directors of not fit for purpose OFGEM are all right jack (just a bunch on ex-industry lackeys).

My concern from jumping from Toto is that they made a commitment to honour credit and rates (so far utter BS) you could have asked OFGEM to require Toto to allow you to transfer you to the supplier of last resort OFGEM appointed which would have secured your balance.

For now I would seek advice from consumeraffairs@ofgem.gov.uk.

I am not surprised about the issues with allowing Electricity but not Gas, I had nearly two years of issues with these both being out of sync in terms of billing, I think this was one of the reasons why Solarplicity could never take a reading from me whether via their portal or via staff or emails.
