Dispute resolution with Airbnb

Last month I booked a single room in Croatia through airbnb. As soon as I made the reservation I realised it was too far for me and I cancelled immediately. Airbnb sent an email saying no money will be taken until your booking is confirmed and yet I was charged full amount on my credit card. Airbnb is not refunding due to host policy refund? My dispute is money should not have been taken as I did not receive a booking confirmation. I am disputing this with Airbnb and also the discrepancies on time of booking and cancellation. In email time of booking is 16.46 and time of cancellation 16.22. Booking was made 24 hrs prior to stay. Waiting for outcome from Airbnb. If not satisfied do I have ground to claim charge back from visa? Thanks

If they don't offer refunds, end of.

No, as you cancelled and the host has a no refund policy.
Given the booking was within 24 hours of the stay. that is a pretty fair T/C.

No non receipt as YOU cancelled.
No non receipt of refund as it was outside the hosts T/C to refund.

You’re misunderstanding - no money is taken until confirmed but a pre authorisation can be placed, and just because it’s not confirmed doesn’t mean you have the right to cancel.

This is an expensive lesson in doing your homework first then committing.

Unfortunately you enter into contract the moment you book. Airbnb doesn't commit to their side of contract until the host confirms the booking. Slightly unfair but nothing you can do if there's no cancellation/refund rights.
