:rotfl::rotfl: I had to have a giggle at your son getting stuck bless him!!
I feel your pain as I have just (well 90%) just got rid of Plantar (I stand for hours on a hard floor ironing as my job :o ) it’s a killer and hope to never get it again.
Well done for rejoining SW this is something that I need to do but I don’t do well in groups :/ as I’m too shy.
Good luck with all the challenges and no spending and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get the outcome you want next week :)

    Morning diary..
Thanks Abba and darranah for dropping in, kids huh and NSD going fantastically lol..

Yesterday was a good day, never ticked everything off my to do list so will roll whats left over for this evening, it's nice to have something to think about other than money in and money out for a change.
All lunches from home today, using my last homemade soup up out of the freezer today so will make another batch tonight ready for rest of week, I do love my soup maker. Plus it's slimming world friendly so all good on that front.

DS had an earlier night and got up in a much better mood so must change his bedtime routine to ensure this is the norm. I am always in work by 7am so sadly never get to put DS to school but our 'thing' is he rings me as he leaves for the school bus and we chat while he waits for the bus, I am so thankful for this daily it eases the mum guilt a little and he enjoys too. He said this morning how cold it is getting. He needs a new school coat so will go shopping for one and pick up the usual gloves and hats for winter on the weekend, he wants to pick up some Pokemon set from argws out of his savings so will test my NO SPEND OCTOBER then. His family allowance is due Monday and this one is def needed to do a restock for his wardrobe, a few joggers, a hoody and a few long sleeve tops are needed for sure as well as a new coat, gloves and hat. His family allowance will cover this plus a few weeks bus fare for the month for school hopefully Pr1mark or sports d1rect will come up trumps.

Was sat having supper last night and seeing 2 gift bags and cards ready to give out today and Friday already packed and sorted made me smile, we have been the grab a giftcard and card type family on the way to visiting family for so long and this costs us a fortune in local sp@r shops £3 for a card etc that we have now promised ourselves to get cards from card factory etc whenever we are in town for the month ahead at least, just one birthday in November thank goodness. We have 4 sons between us 32,30,22 and 12 and 3 partners so its starting to add up so this is a biggy to set up a pot for birthday presents/cash etc in 2020 they are Sept,Oct,Nov,Dec birthdays so the pot will be full by this time next year at least. It's the little things huh..

I rejoined slim world last Saturday 9.30am but the thought of giving up my Sat morning weekly is not filling me with joy as I work 7-4 Mon-Fri and then a Sunday morning I help run a kids bowling league which starts at 10am so up early again I NEED to have a day where I can completely call the shots for the day or I will just have a melt down mid month, so think I will change to Wednesday evenings and go straight from work help the consultant set up and then it's done for the week, and I get a lay in past 7 once a week at least.

My mother-in-law paid my sons bowling subs last night and refused to take the money back, so I am adding that to my earn £50 pot in October plus took our own drinks so no money spent at all out of family money either, have a fair few books to sell on eb@y but our local post office has been closed for 5 months and not reopening until 20th so will have to hold off on that one as closest post office is 2 miles away, need to go through my DS toy cupboard and sell a few bits I know he has an as new 3ds with 20 games that is never ever used that will sell easily ready for Christmas. I am trying to not pick up overtime shifts at work as I am shattered, worked the last 2 Sundays as extras though.
    To be continued.....

Morning diary. I apologise for hiding away but it's been a tough few weeks, but good news our IVA was approved yesterday so 5 years from now our financial nightmare will be over. No ifs or buts this must happen..

Yesterday was one of the longest days of my adult life but we live to tell the tale. A few ammendments were needed but IPs side not ours thank goodness, first payment to go out a month today so need to use this month of not paying debts to tuck away what we can.

Oddly I am looking forward to the challenge of learning all the frugal and old school tips and a whole new way of life of living within our means. This can only fall in with less waste and more minimalist way of life we have started last few months and hopefully it will aid my slimming world journey. Hubby is definitely on board now and knows he has to knuckle down too. In all fairness he will do anything for an easy life and I know the relief his side will lessen the stress which helps his fibrosis pain massively...

So here goes 60 month countdown. I think I am going to sit and plan over the weekend what I would like to achieve in 60 months outside of finances too. We are blessed with a lovely home and gardens, although our gardens haven't had the care this year they needed half due to weather and half to stress and laziness. We have a few decorating bits that need doing but also have all we need to complete jobs... TOMM will commence whole heartedly from today as will slimming world.. Mojo will be found.

    To be cont. ...

Good luck and hope you manage to stash away some savings over the next month to give yourself a buffer. Totally agree with savings pots for birthdays and Christmas. Stick to a budget too.

Not a lot to add tonight, apart from celebrating our IVA with a NSD:D start as we mean to go on and all that eh...

Started a few pots and will mix things up and around until I am happy with them.
    1.School bus fare.
    2.Groceries.
    3.Sons bowling club subs.
    4.Christmas fund-(Luckily have Park vouchers).
    5.Haircuts.
    6.School bits/clothes.

    Will go from there.
Going to do a check for lowest fuel companies.

Start €baying books etc, going to save anything extra earned outside of work towards birthdays and Christmas funds for 2020. Going to check out companies to sell old phones and consoles etc plenty here to sell.

Sort out a proper budget over the weekend. Do a food inventory and meal plan from there. £135/£300 spent so far in October hoping to reduce it next month.

Really hoping for some dryer weather over weekend it's been miserable hear for days. Want to get out of the house for a few hours tomorrow. Early night tonight I am bushed.

  • Congrats on the IVA, onwards and upwards now. I love all the old school tips and tricks also, it’s amazing what you can come up with when the need arises :)

  • Many thanks for your kind words, relief and disbelief has been the mood. Now for the hard work huh...

Today seems like it has been 40 hours at least. Up early to set up slim world group, home for a blitz through downstairs, few loads of washing and a general pottering around at home. I have realised today that shopping is a crutch for me without a doubt, had to keep so busy today to stop myself wandering around shops, I do need a food shop but I do that online. Dont really need anything !! This is going to be a tough habit to break but break it must.

Found a few gift cards £10 left on a bt rewards card so paid that off Park hampers and a £10 new look card this Can be used for Xmas gifts. Have quite a stash building ready to ebay or facebook now just waiting for the local post office to reopen in 10 days...

Spent just over £10 on some basics in the shop plus bus fare to town as weather is lousy. All meals have been from home and will be tomorrow. Ds asked to pop for a bowling practice this evening money is put away for this and we only pay a £1 a game so that was an hour out at least. Started my spending diary today will finally see where the spare cash goes. One huge difference this week is we have kept out of corner shop, we are all still alive without the numerous multipacks of crisps, packets of ham and cheese etc, so if it isn't on the online shop chances are we won't get it til week after.
