Buying a house from a private seller

Him we are buying a house and found the ideal place but the owner is selling privately, I have no issue with this but my main concern is the house is up for £x and the seller advised us they will not negotiate and that's fine as long as the house is worth £x.
What's the best way of getting an independent valuation done, I've searched google and can get a valuation done as long as it's my property.
Would I be able to pay an estate agent to pop in and do one for me?
Thanks in advance.

You instruct a RICS surveyor to undertake a full survey and confirm valuation.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

Exactly the same way that you usually get a valuation done with a sale via an EA...
Either your mortgage lender will get a valuation as part of their process, or if you are buying for cash then you get your own valuation (it doesn't matter that you don't currently own the property) or simply don't bother with one.
Bear in mind that a free valuation from an EA will always overvalue a property to try and get your business. If you need a valuation that can be relied upon then you should pay for a RICS qualified surveyor.
At the end of the day you have to be happy with the amount you are paying - that's really all it boils down to.0 -
are you a cash buyer or needing a mortgage? if the latter, the mortgage lender will do a valuation0

Got over half the money, need to mortgage for the rest. Would the bank do a survey to cover the mortgage or do a proper valuation?0

I'm not sure if they know everything about selling a house themselves, they don't have any EPC or a "seller pack"0

The mortgage lender would arrange a valuer to do a valuation.
But you'd need to check what fees you'd have to pay before getting the valuation - including mortgage application fees, valuation fees.
i.e. If the valuation is low, and you walk away, you might lose a few hundred pounds.0 -
