No time for UC appointment

UC requires you to attend appointments. You are expected to take time off work to attend. As others have said, some jobcentres may offer appointments outside of 9-5 but many others do not.

I wonder OP, as this will be a one-off appointment, whether your employers will be reasonable and let you have time off, especially if you offer to make up the time? I don't know how far the Jobcentre is from your work, but if you could either start late, finish early, or have an extended lunchtime *just once* in order to attend, you wouldn't need more than a couple of hours I'd have thought? I understand it's a new job, but if you've made every reasonable effort to make a necessary appointment outside of working hours and you've had no success, then you don't have much choice and your employer should hopefully understand that.

If their leave of absence policy leaves no room for discretion for this sort of thing, I'd be a bit worried about any future eventualities to be honest.

Why not send a letter to the Job Centre enclosing documents confirming that your self employment has ended. In the letter explain that you are now working full time and that you cannot get time off work. Ask them to book a phone appointment, where they can phone you to close off the self employment. It is not unknown for this action to be taken, provided that enough information has been provided.

When a claimant reports that self employment has ended, a to-do action is created, which blocks the claim from issuing any further statement until the matter is resolved. So it is not a satisfactory situation for either Job Centre/UC or the claimant.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
