Loan company make it really difficul to make payments

Options
I have taken a loan out to pay to an upgrade to my heating system. It is a buy now, pay later, interest free for 12 months loan. I am 2 months in and I'd like to start making payments towards it. I ring the customer services for their bank details and they tell me they don't have them, they have to email their head office who will in turn, ring me to give me the details. I've rung CS 3 times now over the last 9 days and not had any contact back from their head office so I can't make any payments. Is this practice operating within the rules and what can I do about it?

  • What does it say on the credit agreement about making payments?
  • It states the agreement has a derral period of 12 months. 'you may still repay the amout of credit early in part or in full as per clause 4.1)

4.1 - If you repay the amount of credit before the end of the deferral period then is is all you will have to pay. You can pay the amount early either in full or in part by contacting us by post or phone.
  • If it were me, I would make the request in writing, as per clause 4.1.

    Start a paper trail.

Keep the money aside, preferably in an account that pays you interest, ready for when they provide you with their details.

Wont they just take the payment over the phone
  • Nope the only problems supported by FCA / FOS is for payday loan troubles. They are the "only ones" who may dip into your account...

Property Management Company HML won't allow me access to my online account (because I'm simply in breach of my contact from their ahem charges not that they will update their debt collector) and it's ok for them to be late supplying bills. Just an apology for late issue need do it.

Next up is their debt collector who accept cheques only and you simply only get to pay them by calling to ring through with your credit/debit card 'just like you do' when you are in dispute of a payment plan and when £300 gets slipped in within the month of pre action protocol.. (regardless of their website about paying online being "under construction" for some period of time, at least 3 years)... Ooooh Bankrupts and those with non cheque baring accounts can pay by postal order.

Good old digital world right there. But we're OK it will be only be payday loans companies notorious for taking more then they should..... (101% sarcasm)

You do talk some absolute irrelevant nonsense, don't you?
  • I think people are too quick to hate on loan companies, saying they're extortionate and greedy, the thing is, if you are able to make the repayments or go bankrupt, then it's the loan company who goes out of pocket. Agreed I think the costs could be a lot lower, but don't forget the risk they're taking on us is a massive one

I doubt contact will be a problem once the 12 months interest free period is over and all the interest gets dumped on the loan.

They don't want you to pay within the 12 Months.
Paper trails, recorded letters, records of all phone calls, keep logs of everything.

You don't mention who the company is so it will be difficult for anyone to help.

Agreed; I've read this post through half a dozen times and I'm afraid I can't make head nor tail of it.

Just some loony tune hijacking the thread to vent. Probably gone off now to remodel his tin foil hat.
