May well be old school CRT!
I love this article, not least as it confirms my feeling that the old tech had benefits the new stuff doesn't consider worthy of a mention.
I work from home occasionally - and have to shovel all my kit away in a cupboard so visitors can use the space as a bedroom. Back when I had CRT monitors I had toddlers - and if a child had walked into my monitor, both sides usually laughed it off. Now, the monitors is much more breakable & capable of inflicting some penetrating bruises.
Also, with the old gear, my heating bills were lower. Big, yes, heavy, yes, but cosy. Now I hunker around my laptop battery as it charges.
So next a child demands the latest gear, ask if they mean the best? Then rearrange their room to accommodate near floor gaming. You don't want that weight too high up...

CRT Monitors were infamous for eye strain and sucking up obscene amount of power. So yes they might be "better" for modern gaming but your optician wouldn't have recommended them.0
